Derby Cheers for Early Times Mint Julep

Derby Cheers Early Times Mint Julep

The newly labeled one-liter pre-mix bottle will begin hitting shelves in early April. It will be available in limited quantities throughout the United States for a suggested retail price of $14.99.

The artwork of Marita Walizer of Oklahoma City, OK, was chosen for the Early Times Mint Julep commemorative bottle. The artwork is titled “Derby Cheers.”

This marks the first time the paintings of Celeste Susany will not be featured on the bottle. The 2010 bottle was the final year featuring her work titled “A golden Moment.”

Walizer won the contest “What Derby Means to Me” that was  sponsored by Early Times.

She knows Louisville. She grew up in Louisville.

She said, in a press release from Early Times, “It’s an incredible honor to have my artwork selected to be on the Early Times Mint Julep commemorative bottle,” said Walizer. “I grew up in Louisville and have been around horses my whole life so this really is a dream to have my artwork chosen and to attend the Kentucky Derby.”

She will be back in Louisville for Kentucky Derby 2011. She won a trip for two for winning the contest, along with $5,000.
