Party must go on — longer

Dry up those tears. So the Great Steam Boat race has been rescheduled. It just means there is more time to party.

“Social at the Silks” originally planned as a boat-race after party, now is strictly a party.

The event is sponsored by Four Fouse Bourbon. It will run 5:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Jockey Silks Bourbon Bar at the Galt House (west).

The event is going to feature a special Four Roses Bourbon. The spirit was specially selected by judges chosen by the Kentucky Derby Festival. The folks over at Four Roses are going to be holding back some of the bottls so they can be served to guests on the Belle Of Louisville when the Great Steam Boat race runs on June 29th.

Jim Rutledge, Four Roses master distiller, has the right spirit, so to speak, “We’re turning the gloominess of all the rain we’ve had into a bright and shining new event. Our scheduled after-party has become a preview party.”

The event will include hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

You can probably use a cocktail napkin to dry any remaining tears.
